The William Cookworthy Birthday Celebration Disco 19/02/2010

This booking was for one of my friends who I actually thought had moved out of cornwall as I have not heard from him in over 12 months. His name is Colin and we met when I was working at St. Austell Football Social Club, which is no longer running. He rang me about 4 weeks before this gig date and asked me if I could do his Birthday Party at The William Cookworthy where I must admin I don't do a lot of gigs and basically this is because it is more of a live music venue in St. Austell and I was really pleased as it was just like old times when we met on this night. The pictures in this Journal are a little dark as you can see. This is because I forgot my camera and had to use my mobile phone which has no flash and is so annoying as it is or should I say was one of the top phones 12 months ago.

With me on this evening was Andy from St. Austell which was great as he only lives down the road from the venue so at least I knew at the end of the evening I did not have far to take him home. We arrived at The William Cookworthy at about 6.30 which was extremely early as we were not starting till 8.30 pm.Well it was just like walking into the old football social club in St. Austell as I knew everyone there from the old days of working at the club. Well I knew from this point that it was going to be quite a good evening and it was. Unloading is a dream at this venue as the area where we set up is right at the side of the pub and you can get your vehicle right up to the side door to unload and set up. Andy unloaded the van for me and helped me set up and it took us about a hour as obviously I wanted to put in a really nice show for my mate Colin. As we were not starting till 8.30 pm this then gave me time to say hi to people that I had not met for over 2 years and it was great catching up on everything whilst andy played some background music. Well 8.30 came and we started we had various people dancing through out the night and even though it was booked as just a Disco I let Colin and a few of his friends sing along to songs I was playing Karaoke Style. The whole evening was a great success especially meeting all the old faces of St. Austell Football Club..

We finished around midnight and started to pack everything away to get ready to load into the van. Andy carried the equipment for me to the van whilst I loaded up. I eventually got back home about 1pm after dropping Andy off at his place and I was very pleased with the whole evening and we are looking forward to another time when hopefully I can work there again. Well 1 week left now then off to The Philippines for a Wedding and Wedding Reception, so keep an eye on our Journals because no doubt The Philippines one will be quite long.
