Wedding Reception At The Porth Avallen Hotel
St.Austell 29/12/
2009

This one was a first for R.J.Rhythm Entertainments to be working at The Porth Avallen Hotel as they do not let mobile D.J.'s work there as they have their own D.J and equipment already set up in the function room, but on this event we were able to break the rules because it was for a very good mate of mine hence they persuaded the hotel to let me do the wedding reception.

We set off from our offices at 5.30pm as we were starting at 7.30 pm. and we did not know how the access was or where we were going to set up. With me on this one was Andy from Bodmin who is now working with us full time. We arrived at the venue about 6pm and I am so glad we did as this venue is not set up for any mobile show to use to be honest. Unloading was a bit of a pain also there was not really a stage area big enough for the show I wanted to put in for my friend. We had to make a lot of changes to the show I wanted to put in but we did it after about a hour and a half and I must admit myself and Andy worked really well together to put in a show we did not think would go in.

We were set up for about 8pm and started straight away as we were meant to start at 7.30pm but the buffet was running late so things were on our side a little bit. The venue was quite packed and I think the Hotel staff said they were up to maximum which was about 150. We started with the first dance at about 8.15pm and all night long we had plenty of requests. We played all types of music from the 1960's upwards even down to them cheesy wedding tunes and everybody loved it. We had various people dancing throughout the evening and I must admit that I was very pleased with the show we managed to set up for my friend in the end. Well again R.J. Rhythm Entertainments made this event a night to remember everyone was having a great time.

We finished around 11.30pm and the we managed to pack away within 45 minuets. From beginning to end it was all go on this night and as per usual everyone had a great night. I am looking forward to my next gig which is New Years Eve at The Tamar.
