Liskeard Sports & Social Club Disco/Karaoke 21st Birthday Celebration 20/02/2010

This booking was a first for R.J.Rhythm to be working at this venue in Liskeard and we were booked to do a Karaoke and Disco for a 21st Birthday Party. We had arranged to get there early as never worked there before we did not know exactly what the layout or carry would be like and being our first gig at Liskeard Sports and Social club we wanted everything to run well and make sure we were on time to start from the time we were booked from.

With me on this booking was Andy from St. Austell and I left my offices about 4.30pm to pick him up and we arrived at the venue about 6pm. We found the venue straight away due to the technology of a sat nav and parked up whilst I went in and found out where we were going to set up. Well this venue I have to say is not an easy one as the function room was up a flight of stairs then the whole length of the room to set up in the corner. Even though we were met with this long haul Andy and myself done very well I think as I was glad we got there at 6pm for an 8pm start as it took us half an hour to get the equipment into the function room ready to set up. Even tough we had this long haul we still put in our medium to large shows as the room was quite a large room and we always like to put in the best show for the venue as my customers know. We eventually got set up for about 7.30pm so all in all it took us a hour and half to set up, but I must say that the function room was one of the nicest I have seen.

People started arriving from about 7.30pm and from then the venue began to fill up very quickly. We started the show off about 8.15pm and right from the first record we had got people up dancing. The theme was an 80's theme for this function and I must say most people were in fancy dress and they all looked amazing. As more and more people started to arrive the atmosphere was getting better and better. We did not have many takers throughout the night as the music we were playing for people to dance to kept them on the dance floor all night long, but when we did have singers they were all brilliant and sang really well. Well what a night this was everyone including ourselves were having a real good time as you can see by looking at the pictures. We finished around half past midnight and started to pack everything away to get ready to load into the van. Andy and myself packed away and some of the guys who were there carried the equipment with Andy downstairs to the van for me whilst I loaded up which was a great help as it only took us 45 minuets to pack away and load up and I was expecting another hour and a have packing away. We eventually got back home about 2pm and myself and Andy were very pleased with the whole evening and Andy was looking forward to a break because as you will know if you follow my Journals I am off to The Philippines for a Wedding and Wedding Reception, so keep an eye on our Journals because no doubt The Philippines one will be quite long.
