Lanhydrock Hotel Holly and Paul's Wedding Reception 12/09/2009

This was the Wedding reception I was really looking forward to at The Lanhydrock Hotel and Country Club as we have worked for this family before and I knew it was going to be one hell of a good night. The function was a Wedding reception for Holly and Paul on this occasion and it was booked as a Disco with an hour of Karaoke in the middle of the function.

We arrived about 6pm to set up for this evening as we were booked to start at 8pm. When we arrived we were told they were running an hour late and we could not set up till about 7.20pm. Well again R.J.Rhythm pulled out all the stops to try and get things running back on time and we did it with about 5 minuets to spare. With me on this booking was John who if you had read the previous Journals you will have notice that John has come back to us after a 12 month break. We decided as they were running late that we would get all the equipment right by the door of the function rom ready t set up when the guests had finished their meal and went to the downstairs bar for drinks. As this event was booked as a Disco with a bit of Karaoke obviously we had a bit more equipment to set up and as I said before the wedding party was running late so this would take more time to set up as well. They eventually finished at 10 past 7 and that gave us only 50 minuets to set up. Well John and myself worked really hard and we did it again with 5 minuets to spare we got set up and gained the hour back for the wedding party which was great as everything could now run to schedule again.

We started the disco off on time at 8pm and started off with playing some chart records as this crowd was a younger crowd and the grooms side of the crowd were mostly RAF so you can guess what sort of night we were going to have. At 8.30 we called the bride and groom onto the dance floor for their first dance and then after the first dance asked the crowd to join them for the second dance. After this the party really started going and we have most people up dancing all night long throughout the evening. At 9.30 the evening buffet was opened and we were asked to play through this which we done and the crowd got livelier and livelier, We started to do some Karaoke from 10pm and we ran that none stop till 11pm as they only wanted an hour of this in the middle, but I must say that the Karaoke could have run for hours as everyone was enjoying it so much. After the Karaoke it was back to the disco and the last hour I can say everyone was up dancing on the dance floor and all around their tables. we had a brilliant night on this evening as we played the right sort of music all night long. We had various people come up to us requesting certain songs (which we had) and complimenting us on our music selection.

We eventually finished at 10 past midnight as were were only booked till midnight but as it was such a great evening and everyone was dancing and enjoying themselves we managed to play on for an extra 10 minuets. As people were leaving and we started to pack up a people were still giving compliments and saying thanks for everything we done in the show, more happy people from another great show!
