Lanlivery Village Hall Valentines Disco Night 13/02/2010

This booking was something different to what we have done in the past as it was a small community event held at the local village hall in Lanlivery. We were booked to do a Valentines Disco for a small group of people in the village and to be honest I did not know how the evening was going to pan out for such a small crowd and I must admit I was very surprised as we had a brilliant night through out the whole evening.

Myself and Annette set up the show during the afternoon as it was not far from my Village, in fact it was the next village down from our offices. We arrived there about 1.30pm and met up with Rosemary who had organized the evening. Well what can I say about this village hall, It is quite a small hall and the venue was upstairs which was not a great problem as we could only fit one of our small lightweight shows into this venue for this occasion. Annette, Rosemary and myself carried the equipment up to the hall and I set up whilst Annette got all the leads ready for me to connect. I have to say at this point that the hall had been beautifully decorated and laid out for the evening which was at this point I had a feeling it was going to be a good night. We got set up in about an hour then went home for the Afternoon.

We returned to the hall at about 7.30 pm and put some final touches to my show. Well people started arriving from about 8pm but it seemed a little bit slow as I think we had about 8 people for about half an hour then round about 8.45 there was a stream of people coming up the stairs and the hall very quickly began to fill up and the atmosphere was getting better and better. One person came up to me and said "good luck you think you can get this lot dancing" I just smiled at him as obviously he did not know what sort of D. J. I was. Well from 9pm I had most people up dancing and I look over at the person who had spoken to me and smiled, I also said what he said over the microphone and the crowd laughed. Well what a night this was everyone including the guy who said I would have trouble getting this party gong was dancing and having a real good time. I must say for a small little village in the middle of Cornwall they certainly know how to party and enjoy themselves and I can honestly say Myself and Annette really enjoyed ourselves and it is a shame not all villages do things like this as it was a great community event that was a great success.

We finished around midnight and started to pack everything away to get ready to load into the van. Annette helped me to pack away and some of the guys who were there carried the equipment for me to the van whilst I loaded up. We eventually got back home about 1pm and myself and Annette were very pleased with the whole evening and we are looking forward to another time with the villagers of Lanlivery. Well 2 weeks left then off to The Philippines for a Wedding and Wedding Reception, so keep an eye on our Journals because no doubt The Philippines one will be quite long.
