Wedding Reception at The Buffs Club in Penryn 08/05/2010

Another first for R.J.Rhythm Entertainments to be working at The Buffs Club down in Penryn near Falmouth and for this function it was a Wedding Reception along with a Karaoke. This booking came from The Alliance of Mobile Party DJs which we are proud to be a member of.

With me on this event was Rob from my village and my mate Darren from St. Austell who now has the title of our photographer as he has some excellent kit and takes brilliant photos as you can see and all without flash to give you some idea of the effect of our lighting rig. We set of from our offices at about 3.30pm as I needed to get into Truro first to pick up some stationary. We got to the Buffs Club at about 5.30pm and I am glad we did as this evenings function was upstairs. When we arrived the party were just doing their speeches so Darren and Rob unloaded the van for me and carried everything upstairs and left the equipment just outside the room un till they had finished and were ready for us to set up.

When they had finished we began to carry everything onto the stage at the far end of the room and start setting up for the evening. It took us about 1.5 hours to set all this up from unloading which was not bad timing because of the stairs and everything.

Well everything was in place and all ready to go by 7.30pm. I started off the evening buy playing requests and chart records for the children in the room as there must have been 30+ and this worked really well as we were waiting for the rest of the party that was invited for the evening to arrive. We had about 130 people to entertain as everyone arrived and at 8pm we did the bride and grooms first dance. After the first dance our second track was being sung by the brides sister as we were also doing a karaoke on this evening and she was excellent I must say.

Well after the first dances we started the party off with lots of really good music from the 80's right up to the present date along with sessions of Karaoke. We had lots of singers including the bride which was great. at about 10pm the Bride and Groom had to leave as they were staying in a hotel was down at the lizard. I got the whole crowd to make one big circle and played a couple of slow goodnight type records as the Bride and Groom went round everybody saying goodnight etc.

After this we kept going till 11.30pm and the whole evening was a great success and the atmosphere all night long was a great party atmosphere.

When we had finished Darren and Rob packed everything away along with myself and they the carried all the equipment back down to the van for me as I loaded up. This took us about an hour to do all this which was not to bad considering the long carry and the stairs. We eventually arrived back home at about 1.45am after this long night and we all agreed that it had been another night to remember.

Next week we are really busy as Thursday I am back at Marjon University College, Friday back at The Garland Ox in Bodmin and Saturday back at The Cat and Fiddle. All shows next week are Karaoke Parties so we are really looking forward to them as we know these venues quite well and we know they are going to be good nights.
